Lisandro Martinez To Start; Mason Mount On The Bench: United’s Predicted XI To Play Brentford

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has suggested that Lisandro Martinez could be in line to return for the game against Brentford on Saturday evening.

The Argentinian international was pictured training with his country over the past couple of weeks and it seems he has fully recovered from the knee injury that has kept him sidelined since the win over West Ham at the beginning of February.

In terms of the starting eleven for the game this weekend, Andre Onana is expected to start in goal, but there are likely to be changes to the back four that started the 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup last time out.

If Martinez is available, he could slot in at centre-back alongside Raphael Varane, with Victor Lindelof dropping to the bench. The club’s other centre-halves Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are still fitness concerns.

The fullback positions are set to remain unaltered, although there is a chance that ten Hag may consider swapping Dalot and Wan-Bissaka, with the latter playing on the right flank instead.

In midfield, Casemiro is a doubt for Saturday, having missed the victory over Liverpool with a muscular problem. It could mean that Scott McTominay partners Kobbie Mainoo, with captain Bruno Fernandes as the no.10. Mason Mount is likely to be back on the bench for the first time after four months out with a calf problem.

Up front, Amad Diallo is suspended after being red-carded following his winning goal versus Liverpool, so the Ivorian won’t be available for the trip to the GTech Community Stadium.

It does seem like ten Hag will again pick Marcus Rashford on the left flank, Alejandro Garnacho on the right wing, with Rasmus Hojlund leading the line.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI to take on Brentford

Onana, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Dalot, McTominay, Fernandes, Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund, Rashford.
