Manchester United transfer target Johan Bakayoko says he is in no rush to leave PSV Eindhoven.
The Belgian international was linked with a switch to Old Trafford last month, while both Liverpool and Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the player recently. However, Bakayoko believes that former teammate Cody Gakpo had the right approach in biding his time before deciding to move away from the Philips Stadion:
“That interest is not something that is happening now, it has been going on for at least a year. You’ll get used to it. Last summer I consciously made the choice to stay at PSV.”
“The circumstances are perfect for me to further develop myself. I have a clear plan and also see how a guy like Cody Gakpo did it. I try to strive for that a bit.”
It is not a surprise that Bakayoko is on United’s radar
The 20-year-old has had a very strong first half of the season, having scored 4 goals and provided 13 assists in 27 appearances for PSV.
With Bakayoko still being so young and the fact that he is a left-footed right winger (which is a rare commodity at the top level), it makes him an extremely attractive target.
United have also looked at several other wide players
As Jadon Sancho looks set to join his former club Borussia Dortmund on loan this month, the Red Devils are clearly scouring the market for potential replacements.
Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Palmeiras’ Estevao Willian are just two other names that have been mentioned over the past week or so. There have also been reports that United are interested in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
