Journalist Says United “Have Their Eye” On £34M Rated Antony Replacement Who Has 17 Goal Contributions This Season

Manchester United are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko, according to Sport1 reporter Christopher Michel.

The journalist claims that the Red Devils “have their eye” on the Belgian international who has been in impressive form for the Eredivisie leaders this season:

As Michel mentions, Bakayoko’s market value (according to Transfermarkt) is around €40m (£34m) but PSV may look to hold out for a higher fee, considering his performances so far this campaign.

Could Bakayoko be a replacement for Antony?

As the 20-year-old is a right-winger with the tendency to cut in onto his stronger left foot, it does appear as if United may be looking to replace another player who was brought in from Dutch football last year.

Antony has had an awful second season at Old Trafford, having racked up 0 goals and 0 assists in 19 appearances. Even though he has had his off-field problems, it is still a shocking return for someone who cost £86m.

United appear to be on the lookout for wingers

It should be pointed out that Bakayoko is not the only wide man that Erik Hag’s side have been linked with over the past week or so. Reports in the English media have mentioned Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo as a potential target.

There have also been rumours that the Manchester club are interested in Barcelona’s Raphinha, with a potential swap deal involving Jadon Sancho having been suggested.
