Chelsea Have ‘Looked At’ Signing £73M United Star Who Has Struggled To Find Minutes Under Ten Hag

Chelsea are weighing up a potential move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, according to London World reporter Rahman Osman.

The journalist claims the England international is one of the options that has been “looked at” by the Blues’ recruitment team as they seek to strengthen their forward line ahead of the transfer deadline.

Sancho was signed from Borussia Dortmund for £73m just over two years ago but he has struggled to replicate the form he showed during his time in Germany.

The 23-year-old was even taken out of first-team training and put on an individual fitness programme midway through last season, as manager Erik ten Hag tried to get the best out of him.

However, Sancho has still not managed to establish himself as a regular starter under the Dutchman, having been on the bench for United’s first three league games.

Sancho had a promising pre-season

Many observers felt that the winger had performed well in pre-season friendlies and there was some confidence that he would be deployed on a regular basis this campaign.

However, the fact that Sancho mostly played out of position as a false nine in those games may have offered a clue as to where he was in the pecking order.

Ten Hag clearly doesn’t trust him to play on the wing, with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho having also been selected ahead of him.

United may be open to selling for the right amount

It is believed that the Red Devils could be in the market for up to three players in the final few days of the transfer window.

Ten Hag is planning to recruit a left-back (as a replacement for the injured Luke Shaw), a central midfielder and a goalkeeper. If United can free up some funds by offloading Sancho, an offer from Chelsea could be considered.
