REPORT: United Have Made £52M Rated Serie A Ace A ‘Priority Target’ As Ten Hag Looks To ‘Replace Sancho’

Manchester United have made Juventus winger Federico Chiesa a “priority target” ahead of the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.it.

The Italian website claims that the 25-year-old is being pursued to “replace Sancho”, who has fallen out with manager Erik ten Hag.

Juve are not expected to sell Chiesa on the cheap, though, with his price tag said to be around €60m (£52m).

Whether the Red Devils could afford such a fee may depend on how much they can get for Sancho.

There are rumours that the England international’s former club Borussia Dortmund would be interested in re-signing the player but it remains to be seen whether they will table an offer that would be deemed acceptable.

Is there no way back for Sancho?

The 23-year-old is currently training away from the first-team squad at Carrington following his clash with ten Hag. The winger has refused to apologise for questioning his manager in public after his performance levels in training were criticised.

With there being no sign that either side will back down, there is a strong possibility that Sancho will leave Old Trafford in the New Year.

United are not the only Premier League club who have been linked with Chiesa

It should be noted that Erik ten Hag’s side have been mentioned as a potential suitor for the Italian international before. Back in the summer, United were suggested as a potential destination, along with Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea in the Italian press.

Before the start of the season, it was reported that Juventus were more than willing to part ways with Chiesa. However, after scoring 4 goals in his first 6 appearances this campaign, their stance has now changed, and a sizeable bid will now be needed to secure his signature.
