Manchester United are “interested” in signing Monaco fullback Vanderson but Barcelona could soon become favourites to secure the defender’s signature, according to Sport.

The Catalan newspaper claims that the La Liga club are targeting a move for the 21-year-old, but only if they can free up the funds necessary to make the deal happen.

It is believed the sale of Raphinha will prove pivotal in Barca recruiting players this summer. They are hoping to get around €80m (£70m) for the Brazilian international, with Chelsea, Newcastle and Arsenal all keen to snap up the winger.

If the Spanish side do get Raphinha off their books, a bid for Vanderson is expected to be one of their first actions during the summer transfer window.

United have been keeping tabs on the defender for a while, although the form of Aaron Wan-Bissaka in recent weeks may have made signing another right-back a less pressing issue. We shall see how this transfer story unfolds.
