United And PL Rivals On Alert As Dortmund Chief Raises More Doubts About German Wonderkid’s Future

Borussia Dortmund Chief Executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has issued a warning to Youssoufa Moukoko and his agent about the player’s contract demands.

The German international’s current deal expires at the end of the season, with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle keeping tabs on his situation. It is believed that the striker is holding out for a sizeable salary increase and, asked about the state of negotiations between the club and the forward, Watzke replied:

“It is legitimate that he is now trying to get a good position for himself. But it is also legitimate that we have our ideas. If they do not coincide, the cooperation will not be continued. That is the last consequence that can happen. Of course, we hope he will stay with us. Gratitude is not a currency in professional football. But I won’t hold that against anyone, because the business is simply the way it is.”

Moukoko is the youngest goalscorer in Bundesliga history and he has bagged six goals and laid on four assists in 14 league matches so far this season.

At 18 years of age, the sky really is the limit for the striker and, if he is available on a free transfer at the end of the season, whoever manages to secure his signature will have got themselves a bargain. Whether United will be in a position to make an offer, though, we shall have to wait and see.
