The Five Belgian Stars Who Have Scored The Most Goals In The Premier League

In our second article profiling the top goalscorers in Premier League history based on their respective countries, we take a look at players from Belgium.

Up until very recently, Belgium wasn’t a nation which you associated with highly talented footballers but the last 15 years has seen a golden generation of talent flow from the country.

All the names on this list will be well-known to those who have watched the Premier League in recent seasons, with every single one of them having played for high profile clubs.

Press the next page as we look at the five top Belgian Premier League scorers.

5) Marouane Fellaini (Everton and Manchester United) – 37 goals

The midfielder’s ungainly style did not win him many admirers but he was a physical presence in the box for both the Toffees and the Red Devils.

Fellaini was excellent in the air and he regularly popped up with crucial headed goals, although he was never prolific, having only got into double figures in one of his 12 seasons in England.

4) Kevin De Bruyne (Chelsea and Manchester City) – 39 goals

The current PFA Player of the Year is more widely known for his assist-making qualities but he can pull out a spectacular goal when required.

De Bruyne’s most prolific Premier League season actually came last year, when he bagged 13 league goals, which was the highest number he has managed in his professional career.

3) Christian Benteke (Aston Villa, Liverpool and Crystal Palace – 75 goals

The striker has had a very strange career, to say the least. At Villa, he looked like a world-beater, scoring 19 league goals in his first season. He also hit double figures in the two following campaigns with the Midlands club.

Benteke’s form was rewarded with a move to Liverpool in 2015, which, unfortunately, didn’t work out. Still, after transferring to Crystal Palace a year later, he started off well, scoring 15 league goals in the 2016/17 campaign. Since then, though, he has barely scored, with his confidence in front of goal having been lost.

2) Eden Hazard (Chelsea) – 85 goals

The Belgian wizard regularly got into double figures during his seven years at Stamford Bridge. He was capable of scoring magnificent solo efforts, using his excellent ball control to slalom around defenders.

Hazard was certainly one of the most naturally gifted midfielders of his generation and his performances were eventually rewarded with a dream move to Real Madrid in 2019.

1) Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea, West Brom, Everton and Manchester United) – 113 goals

His time at Manchester United may colour some supporters views of the player, but, despite struggling at times at Old Trafford, the striker has always been a consistent goalscorer wherever he has been.

Lukaku hit double figures for league goals in every single season between 2012 and 2019, and that is not a record to be scoffed at.
