‘Thank God’ ‘Probably Best We Stay Away From Him’ Fans React As United Distance Themselves From Signing England Star

Manchester United are holding back from making a formal bid for Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier, according to reports in the English media.

The Red Devils have been weighing up whether to go ahead with a move for the England international during the January transfer window but the defender’s ten-week ban for betting infringements has complicated matters.

United are keen on adding competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the second half of the season but, with Trippier only becoming available again on March 1st, it means he would miss a whole host of fixtures. Most supporters on Twitter are happy that the club won’t be stepping up their interest in the player:

At 30 years of age, Trippier is hardly one for the future, so it was a surprise when news of United’s interest in the fullback first emerged. Whether they will move on to another target, we shall have to wait and see.
