Manchester United are weighing up a possible approach for Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier, according to reports in the English media.

The 30-year-old is one of a number of names on a shortlist of targets, with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to have some competition at right-back.

Trippier moved to Spain from Tottenham eighteen months ago and remains a firm fixture in the England setup, but fans on Twitter don’t think bringing him back to the Premier League is a good idea:

There is no doubt that Trippier is stronger than Wan-Bissaka in the attacking third of the pitch. He provided two assists in Atletico’s 2-0 win over Real Valladolid at the weekend.

However, at 30 years of age, the fullback is hardly one for the future and there are surely other players on the market who are younger and available for the same price. It will be interesting to see whether United do make an approach when the January transfer window opens.
