Reporter Reveals That “Tentative Enquiries” Have Been Made As United Consider Shock Swoop For 71M PSG Star

Manchester United have made some “tentative enquiries” for Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Moroccan international joined the Ligue One champions for £71m last summer, snubbing a move to Chelsea in order to seal a switch to France. However, there has been some speculation that he could leave PSG and Jones claims United have asked to be kept in the loop about his potential availability:

“There have been tentative enquiries again on that one, because he was linked with Barcelona and United have looked at Hakimi before. If he’s going to be available, they want to be in that conversation.”

Hakimi has started all five games for his club so far this season, so the defender is highly unlikely to leave the Parc des Prince before the transfer window shuts. United’s advances will, therefore, likely fall on deaf ears.

Manager Erik ten Hag is, however, believed to be keen on strengthening his options on the right-hand side of defence. Barcelona’s Sergino Dest and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries have also been heavily linked in recent weeks but it doesn’t appear any fullback is close to making the switch to Old Trafford currently.
