Paul Merson Predicts The Outcome As United Play Wolves

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson is expecting Manchester United to record a comfortable victory when they take on Wolves this weekend.

With Erik ten Hag’s side having had a good amount of preparation time, Merson believes that they will improve on their performance against West Ham last time out and secure the three points at Old Trafford:

“I expect Manchester United to win this. I think Manchester United were poor against West Ham United. They’ve finally got an entire week without a game after a long time. This is a must-win game for them.”

“If they lose this, the pressure is back on them. They have to win three games before the end of the season to book a berth in the Champions League. The fixtures have been relentless for the Red Devils. This one is different and I expect them to outperform Wolves.”

Merson has gone with a 3-0 win to United, which is a generous prediction considering their recent results. Ten Hag’s men have only won once inside 90 minutes in the last six games, and that was a scrappy 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.

You do, however, have to take into account Saturday’s opponents. Wolves have the third worst away record in the Premier League. They also secured safety after their 1-0 win against Villa last weekend, so they don’t exactly have much to play for. In contrast, United know that three points will go a long way towards securing Champions League qualification.
