Michael Owen Predicts The Scoreline As United Take On Newcastle

Michael Owen is expecting the Red Devils to come away with a narrow victory when they face Newcastle at St James’ Park tomorrow evening.

The BT Sport pundit says he believes Ralf Rangnick will have had more time to get his ideas across to his players over the last couple of weeks and he feels they’ll secure the three points, even if the Magpies make a fight of it:

“I’m very interested to see how Man United perform. There’s been some signs of change from the new boss in terms of pressing and how he wants them to play. He’s had some time with the squad to get more of his ideas across and it will be fascinating to see how they play. With the home fans behind them, I can see Newcastle scoring. I don’t trust them at the back though and United will score a couple of their own.”

Owen has gone with a 2-1 win. It is hard game to predict as, while Newcastle have been performing poorly recently, United have not had a fixture for 15 days and there’s no telling what sort of shape they will be in.

Expect Rangnick’s men to start slowly, blowing off some of the cobwebs, before coming into things as the match goes on. This could be quite an open game, with both managers liking to play on the front foot so Owen is probably right in predicting that neither team will keep a clean sheet.
