Why Manchester United Should Sign This Striker Similar To Erling Haaland – Opinion

Manchester United have been liked with a move for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund for several months now – we feel he would be a brilliant addition to the Red Devils’ squad.

At the age of just 20, Hojlund scored nine goals in 32 games for La Dea last season – he has also been a prolific goalscorer on the international stage, netting six goals in six games for his native Denmark.

In many ways, Hojlund is a similar player to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. They are both high-scoring, powerful forwards from Scandinavian countries – even their names sound similar!

What will Rasmus Hojlund bring to the Manchester United squad?

It’s no secret – Manchester United are in desperate need of a quality striker option. With time ticking away in the transfer window, they will need to secure a transfer soon – or risk starting the season without a recognised number nine.

Not only is Hojlund already a solid striker, he’s only going to get better, given his young age. His finishing can be wayward at times – as such, if United are to sign him up, they will need to create plenty of chances for him.

Thankfully, as a tall, quick striker with impressive technical ability, he can take advantage of pretty much any goal-scoring opportunity that is handed to him.

How will Hojlund be an upgrade over Wout Weghorst?

Hojlund will be an improvement over former United striker Wout Weghorst in almost every way, should the Red Devils reach an agreement to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

Weghorst was, ultimately, an unsuitable choice for the role of lone striker. While he was theoretically strong in the air, his poor jumping ability often saw him losing more aerial duels than someone of his stature should have.

Hojlund isn’t as tall as Weghorst is – he is 6ft 3, while Weghorst is 6ft 6 – his bulky frame, gritty determination and salmon-like ability to leap in the air make him a brilliant target to aim at up top.

Not only this, but Hojlund is also an incredibly hard worker. He chases lost causes and is always on hand to put the pressure on defenders when they are attempting to play out from the back – something that Weghorst never did.
