Journalist Claims United Are Aiming To Tie Up Another Transfer After Eriksen ‘Before Friday’

Manchester United are looking to “speed up” their attempts to secure the signature of Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, according to De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij.

The Red Devils have already agreed a deal to sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer this week but Verweij believes they are also keen on snapping up Martinez “before Friday”:

It is believed that United are looking to have Martinez on the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia so negotiations with Ajax are expected to ramp up in the next few days.

Reports elsewhere suggest Arsenal have also arranged for talks with the Eredivisie champions as they try to lure Martinez to the Emirates.

It means that it is almost certain that United will have to match the Argentinian international’s €50m (£43m) price tag. If they do, though, it will be hoped that the presence of Erik ten Hag, his former manager, should help him decide that a move to Manchester is the right one for him.
