After the 3-1 win over Tottenham yesterday, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked a question about striker Edinson Cavani.
In response, the Norwegian commented on the strength of the Red Devils’ attacking play, while jokingly saying that it even helped Fred get on the scoresheet:
“We haven’t had that type of no. 9 for a long, long spell. We had a little meeting with the boys, this morning, and said we need to use him correctly with his movement. Fred even scored which tells you everything about the performance.”
Of course, fans on Twitter were loving Solskjaer’s cheeky dig aimed towards the Brazilian, with many stating that it was an accurate remark, considering the midfielder doesn’t score very often:
He’s not wrong ???

You only have to look at the stats to see where Solskjaer was coming from. It was Fred’s first goal in any competition this season and only his fourth in 112 appearances for the club.
For a player that cost £47m, you would have hoped for slightly more from the 28-year-old, but it simply isn’t his game. The midfielder generally shows his strengths in his own half when retrieving possession and setting up attacks for players far more capable in the final third of the pitch.
