Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw was recalled to the starting lineup by manager Erik ten Hag for the 2-1 win against Everton last night.
Tyrell Malacia had a difficult evening in Cyprus on Thursday so the decision to reinstate Shaw to the eleven wasn’t entirely surprising, but he did take his chance at Goodison Park.
Shaw was industrious down the left flank for the Red Devils and improved as the game went on. Fans on Twitter were quick to recognise his good performance after the full-time whistle yesterday:
He was actually our best player tonight imo

we might need to sign a left back every season just so Luke Shaw will perform

There is probably a couple of reasons why Shaw is playing so well at the moment. With Malacia keeping him honest, the 27-year-old knows he has to impress every time he takes to the pitch.
Secondly, with the World Cup just over a month away, Shaw is undoubtedly desperate to be included in England’s final 23-man squad. That combination means we are likely to see the very best of the fullback in upcoming matches.
