Scholes Names Two United Players Who Should Be Dropped After Witnessing Their Displays Against Omonia

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Jadon Sancho and Antony should be named on the bench for the game against Everton this weekend.

The pair, who cost a combined £157m, did not impress against Omonia Nicosia, and Scholes claims that Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial demonstrated in Cyprus that they deserve to start ahead of them after looking more “dangerous” in front of goal:

“I think the two wide lads that played today, Jadon Sancho and Antony, I know Antony scored on Sunday [against Man City], but I think Martial and Rashford look more dangerous. I think they’ve got a little bit more about them, they can go either way, they’re quick, and defenders will be frightened to death of them.”

It’s unlikely that both Sancho and Antony will be dropped for the match at Goodison Park. Scholes seems to believe that Cristiano Ronaldo will keep his place, despite being wasteful with his chances on Thursday night. However, a front three of Martial, Rashford and Antony is probably the combination that manager Erik ten Hag will go with.

Sancho was substituted at half-time versus Nicosia, along with Tyrell Malacia, and in his post-match interview, ten Hag was clearly not happy with the performances of the two players. It means that Sancho may have to work hard to get his place back in the starting lineup.
