‘Good Signing, The Manager Wants Him’ ‘Meh’ Fans Deliver Verdict As United Secure £60M Transfer

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea, according to multiple reports.

The Red Devils will pay £55m up front with another £5m in performance-related add-ons. The move looked to be in jeopardy last week when Erik ten Hag’s side had their third bid rejected for the England international. However, they re-entered talks in order to find common ground and an agreement has now been struck.

There has been a mixed reaction to the news on Twitter, with some fans happy to see Mount joining the club, while others fear they have paid too much to bring in the 24-year-old:

Mount will want to prove a few people wrong

There is no getting away from the fact that the midfielder had a difficult 2022/23 campaign. Injuries and poor form meant that he scored just three goals in 24 league games.

It is not the sort of return you would expect from a player of Mount’s calibre, considering he had racked up TWENTY NINE goal contributions just a year before. He will be determined to show his true form next season.

Time will tell if United overpaid

£60m for a player who had a year left on his contract is a lot of money but, when you factor in his age and ability, there is every chance he will pay back the fee and then some.

Manager Erik ten Hag was said to be very keen to secure the services of Mount and the Dutchman will surely have a plan to get the best out of the player.
