Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Negotiations over a move last year collapsed after the Red Devils failed to agree personal terms with the 27-year-old, but Romano says it is an option that could be revisited at the end of the season when the player’s contract expires:
“Ten Hag is a big fan… it’s not something for January, it’s not something for deadline day but, from what I’m told, it’s something for the summer.”
Fans on Twitter are not as enthusiastic about signing Rabiot as ten Hag appears to be, with many raising questions about his ability to break into United’s midfield:
God forbid

Give his mum a statue outside old Trafford, if it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t have Casemiro

NO. If he really wanted to come to utd he would of already been here!! But saying that we probably wouldn’t have King Cas if Rabiot arrived last summer.

Romano also points that there are “two or three” other Premier League teams interested in Rabiot. The likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been credited as potential suitors in the past so there could be competition for the Frenchman’s signature.
While Rabiot is said to be keen on moving to England, the main stumbling block will be his salary. If he wants to join United, he may well have to lower his demands.
