Manchester United have agreed a fee for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to the Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst.
The reporter, who isn’t always the most reliable of sources, claims negotiations are now underway with Rabiot’s agent in order to reach a deal on personal terms:
#mufc have agreed a fee in principle with Juventus for Adrien Rabiot but there is already a stumbling block: his agent and mother, Veronique https://t.co/xD6hFyAWnD

Supporters on Twitter are dismayed that the club have resorted to signing Rabiot, who has struggled to establish himself since moving to Juve just over two years ago:
This is such an uninspiring transfer. There are so many younger, more talented players out there that do his job. BUT, I won’t care if we get de Jong. A de Jong – Rabiot midfield is about 1000 times better than McFred.
If it’s an alternative to de Jong – just end the season now

That we are going for cut-price, short term options at the start of a rebuild says all you need to know about the state of the club at the moment.

Rabiot is believed to be very keen on making a switch to England, with reports earlier this summer suggesting that he had been offered to United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.
However, despite being capped 29 times by France and being highly rated as a youngster, he hasn’t exactly kicked on as many would have hoped. The fact that Juventus are willing to let him leave, rather than hand the player a contract extension, kind of tells you all you need to know.
