Agent Confirms Four Teams Are After AC Milan Star Scouted By United

Gianni Vitali, the agent of AC Milan defender Davide Calabria, has revealed there is interest from English and Spanish clubs in the fullback.

Reports in Italy suggested that Manchester United had scouted the 22-year-old during the 1-0 defeat to Fiorentina back in December.

When asked about the Red Devils’ interest in Calabria, Vitali denied he had spoken to the Premier League club, but confirmed there were two teams from England pursuing the player:

“Manchester United has never called me, it has never gone beyond a few chats, it’s difficult to find better than Milan. The clubs interested? I prefer not to name them, but I can say they were a couple of English clubs and a couple of Spaniards.”

United will probably make a move for another fullback in the summer. While Ashley Young has signed a new deal, the club have yet to take up their option to extend Matteo Darmian or captain Antonio Valencia’s contract for a further year.

As it stands, both players will be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season. Whether Calabria will be targeted, it remains to be seen.

The Italian Under 21 international is a right-back and it’s likely United will be more interested in finding cover for Luke Shaw on the left-hand side in the summer.
