United Weigh Up January Move For China-Based Belgian International

Manchester United are interested in signing Dalian Yifang winger Yannick Carrasco, according to reports in France.

The Belgian international moved from Atletico Madrid to the Chinese Super League last February but has been linked to a return to Europe in recent months.

AC Milan were said to be keen on signing Carrasco but it seems United’s interest in the 25-year-old is more concrete.

The winger could yet stay in China, though, with the Belgian’s former coach from his time at Monaco, Leonardo Jardim, soon to take charge at Dalian.

Carrasco had a decent first season with the Chinese club, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 25 games. However, with the midfielder still only in his mid-twenties, he may see a move to the Premier League as an attractive option.

The money in China has tempted many players to move to the Far East during their prime years, but many such as Paulinho and Axel Witsel have ended up returning to European football after brief stays.
