“You Can See It Happening” Ex Arsenal Star Backs United To Challenge His Former Club For 50M Signing

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell says he expects Manchester United to fight it out with Arsenal for Brighton centre-back Ben White.

Reports over the weekend suggested that the Gunners are lining up a formal offer for the England international, who is valued at £50m by the Seagulls, and Campbell thinks the Red Devils will also get involved:

“He would only be a major asset to a club like Manchester United. You can see it happening. He is an international now who could be part of the rotation at United. I am sure United would like to have a player like him in their squad because he is also very versatile. He is a good player who is only going to get better.”

United are certainly looking for a new centre-half but it seems doubtful that White is at the top of United’s shortlist of targets, with a number of other players likely to be ahead of the 23-year-old.

Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane is thought to be the Manchester club’s main focus, with the Frenchman expected to be available this summer due to his contract situation.

However, Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, Villarreal’s Pau Torres and Lille’s Sven Botman have also been mentioned as possible options in recent weeks, so it appears United may not be prioritising a move for White.
