Manchester United are willing to offer a contract worth €3m more a year than Real Madrid for defender Raphael Varane, according to reports in the Spanish media.
It was reported earlier this month that the Red Devils and Chelsea had offered to pay the Frenchman €12m a season (£200,000 a week), and it appears Real can’t match that proposal, with it being claimed they will only go as high as €9m.
With that being the case, it seems United are now one of the favourites to secure Varane’s signature, although some fans on Twitter are wary that the player may simply be using the club to get a better deal with his current team:
Smells like Ramos again. Go for Kounde.

Supporters are right to be cautious, especially after what happened with Sergio Ramos a few years ago. Real are believed to be demanding €70m (£60m) for Varane, despite his contract running down into its final twelve months so there is also a chance that United will pull out because of the size of the transfer fee anyway.
