Manchester United are one of three clubs interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to BILD journalist Christian Falk.
The German reporter claims that Bayern Munich have joined the Red Devils and Chelsea in the race to sign the Swiss international:
United and Chelsea have a new transfer rival: FC Bayern also has Denis Zakaria on their list @ManUtd @ChelseaFC @FCBayern

Zakaria has been mentioned as a potential signing in the past, although United have never made a bid for the 23-year-old. Fans on Twitter, though, think he would be a decent addition to the squad:
Would be a perfect signing for MUFC

knew about this signing 2 seasons ago. Had our scout been proactive we could have signed him without any competition but guess that's not in the plan.

We missed out on Fabinho and Partey. I hope we don't miss the opportunity to get this guy. Would be a game-changer. I don't think he's all that expensive as well. Only issue is if he can keep himself fit.

With Nemanja Matic now 32 years of age, a move for replacement next summer wouldn’t be out of the question. Zakaria is a good all-rounder. He can tackle, dribble and has a decent shot on him, but he won’t come cheap.
Gladbach are believed to be asking for around €50m (£45m) for Zakaria, which is a pretty high sum, but at his age, he still has the potential to improve and become an even better player.
