United’s 55M Move In Jeopardy As PL Rival ‘Set Their Sights’ On Signing Slovenian Ace

Newcastle have “set their sights” on signing Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko before the transfer window shuts, according to the Northern Echo reporter Scott Wilson.

The agent of the Red Bull Salzburg striker has already held talks with Erik ten Hag’s side and Chelsea, but Newcastle are also looking to step up their interest in the Slovenian international:

The Magpies reportedly had an informal enquiry for Sesko knocked back last month but it now appears as though they will be seeking to enter formal discussions with Salzburg.

Where this leaves United, though, it is difficult to know. Reports have suggested that the Red Devils weren’t willing to match the forward’s £55m asking price, but that won’t be an issue for Newcastle.

At the moment, it seems as if the Manchester club are looking at cheaper alternatives instead, with an offer reportedly on the table for Bologna’s veteran striker Marko Arnautovic.
