United Worried That Contract Offer To Key Player Won’t Be Enough To Keep Him

De Gea

Manchester United are concerned that they may not be able to meet David de Gea’s wage demands, according to reports in the UK.

The Red Devils are believed to be prepared to offer the Spaniard a deal worth £350,000 a week, but the goalkeeper is looking for a better wage.

Alexis Sanchez’s £400,000 a week deal at United, along with Aaron Ramsey’s £7.2m a year contract at Juventus are said to have been influential in de Gea looking for a higher salary.

The Spanish international’s current deal expires in 2020 after United triggered their option to extend his contract for a further season.

However, with negotiations now having been going on for more than a year, there is growing concern that de Gea won’t sign on the dotted line.

The keeper could hold out for a lucrative contract by leaving on a free transfer next year. Paris Saint-Germain and Juve are said to be keeping an eye on the 28-year-old’s situation.
