Manchester United Close In On New Contracts For Two Players After Breakthrough In Talks

Manchester United are confident that Marcus Rashford will sign a new contract in the next few weeks, according to reports in the UK.

CEO Ed Woodward is keen to tie down the 21-year-old to a new six-year-deal and it is believed there has been a breakthrough in negotiations which could see the England international sign on the dotted line.

Rashford’s current contract at United expires in 2020, with an option of a further year. Both the player and his agents are said to be happy to agree to improved terms after his elevation to number one striker under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In addition to Rashford, Ander Herrera’s new deal is also said to be close to being finalised with Woodward reportedly confident that both players will put pen to paper very soon.

The Spaniard has been in superb form over the last few months, but his current contract expires in the summer.

Negotiations over deals for David de Gea, Juan Mata and Ashley Young are also said to be ongoing but talks have not advanced as quickly with the United trio.
