Victor Osimhen “Not Interested In Other Teams” As United Get Backing To Seal £100M+ Transfer

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will only accept moves to Manchester United or Real Madrid this summer, according to former Italy midfielder Salvatore Bagni.

Reports have suggested that the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also interested in the Nigerian international, but Bagni believes the forward won’t be joining these clubs for a number of reasons:

“Victor Osimhen won’t return to France because he already played there. The same thing with Germany. He doesn’t go to Liverpool or Chelsea because they do not play in the Champions League. Of all the teams associated with him, for me, he would only go to Manchester United and Real Madrid. He’s not interested in the other teams.”

Of course, that is only Bagni’s opinion and a lot will depend on who is prepared to stump up the cash to sign Osimhen.

Napoli are reportedly demanding around €150m (£129m) for the 24-year-old, which is a staggering figure that no one is likely to pay. Even if the asking price drops closer to £100m, United may still have trouble matching the valuation.

A limited transfer budget

With an initial £55m being spent on Mason Mount and, potentially another £45m being needed to recruit Andre Onana from Inter Milan, it will leave the Red Devils quite short of funds.

It is believed that Erik ten Hag’s side had £120m to spend before player sales, so getting the money to buy Osimhen would require a number of players to be sold.

Who could United offload to finance a bid for Osimhen?

The likes of Harry Maguire, Fred, Scott McTominay and even Jadon Sancho have been tipped to leave Old Trafford this summer. If the club can get, at least, two of those off the books, it could pave the way for a bid to be made for Osimhen.

Realistically, though, the Nigerian’s price tag may mean that he is just out of reach financially. Some of United’s backup options include Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.
