“By The Weekend…” Journalist Claims United Are Closing In On £26M Transfer

Manchester United could wrap up a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat “by the weekend”, according to Rai Sport reporter Sara Meini.

The Italian journalist claims there are “decisive days” ahead for the Moroccan international as a move to Old Trafford draws ever closer:

Erik ten Hag’s side are known to be keen on signing Amrabat but it was reported that a bid for the 26-year-old would only be made once they have sold some players first.

The likes of Fred, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay could all be allowed to leave for the right price.

Fred has been the subject of an offer from Galatasaray, although the Turkish team’s opening proposal was rejected. They may, however, return with an improved bid soon.

McTominay, meanwhile, has been linked with a potential switch to West Ham, while van de Beek is believed to have a number of different suitors (including Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Crystal Palace).

Amrabat could turn out to be a bargain for United

Fiorentina are reportedly only holding out for around €30m (£26m) for the Moroccan which is a very reasonable price in this day and age.

When you consider the other midfielders that United have looked at, such as Brighton’s Moises Caicedo (£80m), Southampton’s Romeo Lavia (£50m) and Amadou Onana (£55m), who would cost a lot more, Amrabat’s valuation is rather low.

If he can replicate the sort of form he showed at the World Cup, United could be recruiting an excellent squad player, who could take some of the workload off Casemiro in the holding midfield role.
