“Something Can Still Happen” – Sky Reporter Drops Hint As United And Liverpool Battle For £151K p/w Midfielder

Bayern Munich could still decide to sell Manchester United transfer target Ryan Gravenberch before the transfer window closes, according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Up until now, the Bundesliga club have made it clear that the Dutchman is not for sale but, with the player having started the season as 4th choice in central midfield, Plettenberg spoke out on X to say that “something can still happen” ahead of deadline day.

Plettenberg states that Gravenberch is also being targeted by Liverpool and it looks as though it will be a straight fight between the two rivals if the Netherlands international is made available for transfer.

The midfielder (who is earning £151,000 a week at Bayern), is not expected to cost a huge deal, with some reports suggesting that Bayern may be prepared to let him go for £22m, which is similar to the amount they paid Ajax for the player a year ago.

Ten Hag could prove pivotal to signing Gravenberch

After having managed the player previously at Ajax, it is believed that the presence of Erik ten Hag at United could swing things in the Manchester club’s favour.

Reports have already hinted that Gravenberch would opt to make the switch to Old Trafford if it comes down to a choice between the Red Devils and Liverpool.

United need to sell before they can buy

Even if Gravenberch is available relatively cheaply, though, there is no guarantee that ten Hag’s side will be able to fund the move. Despite also pursuing Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, who is available for a pretty low fee, they haven’t tabled a bid for the player.

In order to balance the books, the departure of Donny van de Beek or Scott McTominay may be needed before they can make a concerted effort to sign another midfielder.
