United Have ‘Agreement’ With Player Over £75K A Week Contract As Club Close In On Fourth Summer Transfer

Manchester United have an “agreement” with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund over personal terms, according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

The Italian reporter claims the Danish international will earn €4.5m a season plus bonuses (approximately £75,000 a week) and the player has “reiterated” to his representatives that he wants a move to Old Trafford “at all costs”.

Paris Saint-Germain have also registered their interest in Hojlund, but the forward has made United his number one priority as he would be realising a “childhood dream.”

The 20-year-old grew up supporting the Red Devils and it appears the player is now simply waiting for Erik ten Hag’s side to make a formal bid.

Atalanta are not going to let Hojlund leave on the cheap

Pedulla says that the Serie A club want a base fee of €65m (£56m), with an additional €9m (£7.75m) to €10m (£8.6m)  in performance-related add-ons.

It remains to be seen whether United will be prepared to pay that much for Hojlund, considering he has only had one season playing at the highest level. However, the pressure from PSG may force them into spending more than they would like, as they attempt to wrap up the move quickly to prevent the deal from being hijacked. Negotiations are expected to begin in earnest this week.

United are making moves in the transfer market

Despite the ongoing takeover saga, the Manchester club have continued to make headway in terms of summer signings. They have brought in three players so far, including Mason Mount (£55m), Andre Onana (£47m) and (somewhat surprisingly) Jonny Evans (free).

If they do match Atalanta’s asking price for Hojlund, it would take the Red Devils’ summer spending to £158m, excluding bonuses. The recruitment isn’t expected to stop with signing the Dane either, with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and a reserve keeper also on the club’s wishlist.
