Journalist Believes “Long Awaited Offer” Is Imminent As United Step Up £68M Transfer Pursuit

Manchester United are expected to make a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani very soon, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk.

It was claimed a couple of weeks ago that the Red Devils had entered talks about signing the France international, and Falk believes a formal offer is now in the pipeline:

“Randal Kolo Muani and Manchester United is getting hotter, the English club finally wants to make its long-awaited offer.”

Frankfurt are expected to hold out for at least €80m (£68m) for the 24-year-old, who was their top scorer last season.

Muani, who has also been linked with Chelsea in recent months, recently spoke out about his future, stating that it would be a “dream” to play in England:

“Honestly, who doesn’t dream of playing in the Premier League? It’s one of the best leagues that exists. You dream about it. These are childhood dreams. But I’m not searching for the perfect club or the best club in the world.”

“I’m really looking for the club that will give me the chance to be able to express myself, to earn game time and most importantly allow me to grow.”

United’s number one priority

While manager Erik ten Hag is keen on bringing in reinforcements both in midfield and defence, the key target for the summer transfer window is a new number nine.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is widely believed to be at the top of the shortlist of options but Spurs’s reluctance to sell to another Premier League club makes that deal very difficult.

Alternatives have, therefore, been sought out and Muani’s name has kept cropping up again and again in recent weeks, with it looking like the Frenchman is now the club’s preferred target.

What do we know about Muani?

The striker has had a swift rise to prominence. He came through Nantes’ academy and he played for the club’s B team for a number of years before, finally, making his first-team breakthrough during the 2020/21 campaign.

Muani sealed a free transfer move to Frankfurt last summer and he hasn’t looked back from there, scoring 23 goals and providing 17 assists in 46 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

He was also handed his international debut back in September, as well as being selected in France’s World Cup squad. Muani featured in three matches at the tournament, scoring his first goal in the semi-final against Morocco, and then coming on as a substitute in the final versus Argentina.
