“A Possible Option” – Reliable Journalist Claims Chelsea Could Raid United For £73M Player

Chelsea are a “possible option” for Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho if he leaves Old Trafford in the New Year, according to The Athletic reporter Lauri Whitwell.

The usually reliable journalist claims that the player’s “connections to London” would mean he’d be open to a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Sancho doesn’t have a future at the Red Devils, having burned his bridges with manager Erik ten Hag, after a public row over his performances in training.

The player was asked to apologise to the United boss in person after taking to Twitter to accuse the Dutchman of making him a “scapegoat”.

However, Sancho refused to make amends, and he has been training with the club’s youth team ever since, with the expectation that he will be sold or loaned out at the first opportunity.

Reports differ on whether Sancho wants to stay in England

While Whitwell appears to suggest that the England international is willing to join another Premier League team, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has hinted that the £73m United player is likelier to move abroad.

It is believed that Juventus are keen on securing Sancho’s services, although there are doubts over whether the Serie A club have the funds required to meet United’s demands.

Will United seek a replacement for Sancho?

There have been suggestions that the Red Devils could be interested in Federico Chiesa, which could help progress negotiations with Juve if a potential swap deal with Sancho could be worked out.

Borussia Dortmund player, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, has also been mentioned as a possible target, although his lack of experience would count against him.

A move for Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry has been suggested too but that rumour has been dismissed by sources in the German media.
