Manchester United will be favourites to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe if Sheikh Jassim becomes the new owner of the club, according to reports in Spain.
The World Cup winner is expected to be sold by PSG this summer, with the player having confirmed he won’t extend his contract with the Ligue One club beyond next year.
Fans on Twitter are very much hoping that the claims about United’s pursuit of Mbappe are accurate:
If there is even 1% truth to this, Ten Hag is a manager who doesn’t get pushed back by big egos so he can temper Mbappe

Intriguing! would be a massive statement if this came off, not getting carried away until everything is signed with Sheikh Jassim.

There are a lot of ‘if’s’ and ‘but’s’
Mbappe has already come out and publicly stated that he wants to stay until the end of his contract next summer so it’s likely that United would have to persuade him into moving to Old Trafford.
Secondly, everything still depends on Sheikh Jassim being named the preferred bidder for the club, and the deal being finalised in time so an offer can be made for Mbappe.
Signing Mbappe would be a massive coup for United
United have been on the lookout for a new number nine, and Mbappe would certainly fulfil the criteria for the type of striker that manager Erik ten Hag would want.
You only have to look at his goal record from last season to see that the 24-year-old would be an outstanding purchase, having scored 41 goals and contributed 10 assists in 43 appearances for PSG.
It’s probably wise for fans to keep their expectations in check for now, considering all the things that would need to happen for the move to be a realistic possibility, but it would be an outstanding signing if a transfer were to go ahead.
