‘Well That Sucks’ ‘We Are Never A Serious Team’ United Fans Disappointed As £80M Rated Target Chooses PL Rival

Manchester United target Moises Caicedo has decided to join Chelsea, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Brighton midfielder had been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Plettenberg claims the player now has his heart set on a transfer to Stamford Bridge:

Fans on Twitter are not happy that United have failed to make a concerted effort to sign Caicedo, who they feel would strengthen their options in the middle of the park:

Caicedo’s asking price is likely to have been a problem

Chelsea are said to be hoping to sign Caicedo for around £80m, but Brighton may demand a lot more than that to sell the Ecuadorian international.

Considering it has been suggested that United’s transfer budget may only be slightly above £100m, blowing all their funds on Caicedo doesn’t make a lot of sense, considering they are also looking to recruit in other positions.

United have other transfer targets in mind

From what we know, it seems as though manager Erik ten Hag is not prioritising a move for a midfielder, other than Chelsea’s Mason Mount. The vast majority of transfer rumours in recent weeks have mentioned plenty of strikers, centre-backs, goalkeepers and even fullbacks, but things have gone very quiet on the midfielder front.

There are still some reports suggesting that the Red Devils will revive their interest in Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot, as well as potentially making a last-ditch attempt to stop Arsenal from signing West Ham captain Declan Rice, but even those links have not been concrete.
