Chelsea Star ‘Keen’ On Move To Manchester United, Reports Suggest

Manchester United are thought to be interested in a move for Chelsea midfielder and academy graduate Mason Mount – additionally, the player is thought to be a ‘keen’ on the idea of a move to Old Trafford [via Fabrizio Romano on Twitter].

Chelsea will require a fee of around £65-£70 million before they will consider letting Mount move to another club – it’s unclear as to whether United are willing to meet this asking price.

In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “Manchester United have sent messages to Mason Mount confirming intention to insist in the next days. Personal terms, not an issue as player’s keen on the move. Chelsea keep asking for €80m fee, this is why deal was not progressing this week but it’s not over.”

Who else is interested in Mason Mount?

Outside of Manchester United, Liverpool were also thought to be interested in a move for Mount. However, since the Reds have acquired the services of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, their pursuit of the player may have ended.

Currently, United are leading the race to snap up Mount’s services, though an official offer has yet to be tabled from the Red Devils.

Would Mason Mount be a good signing for Manchester United?

While Mount is a talented, hard-working midfielder, the asking price appears to be somewhat steep – especially when the comparatively small fee of £45 million that Liverpool paid for Mac Allister is taken into account.

However, as the player appears willing to make the move happen, agreeing a contract with him should be relatively simple. Additionally, having spent the majority of his career in the Premier League, he is very well-accustomed to its frenetic pace and harsh physicality.

United could do far worse than Mason Mount – but they may want to keep their options open, in case a more affordable player becomes available.
