United And Chelsea Target The Next Paul Pogba Who Could Be Signed For £15M

Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are keeping close tabs on Schalke midfielder Assan Ouedraogo, according to TEAMTalk.

The website claims all three clubs have sent scouts to watch the teenager in action. Some have likened his style of play to Paul Pogba and he has even been tipped to reach the same level as the French World Cup winner.

Ouedraogo has already been handed his debut by Schalke, and he made a big impression too, scoring on his first appearance in a 5-3 defeat to Hamburg on the opening day of the season back in July.

The 17-year-old has gone on to make 8 further appearances in Bundesliga 2, although he hasn’t made any further goal contributions so far.

How much are Schalke looking to sell Ouedraogo for?

The German Under 18 international has already been tied down to a professional contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2027.

It means that United or any other interested club won’t be able to buy Ouedraogo on the cheap. TEAMTalk claim that Schalke would demand at least £15m for the player, although competition for his signature could lead to this asking price being increased.

United are not favourites to sign the midfielder

At the moment, it is believed that Chelsea (not United or Bayern) are the frontrunners to secure the midfielder’s services. That is not entirely surprising considering the Blues have been prepared to pay big money for young players over the past 12 months.

Ouedraogo’s future may depend on who his agents are. A number of different agencies are said to be competing to represent the youngster and that may influence which club he ultimately ends up joining. This is a transfer to keep an eye on ahead of next summer.
