Club Could Be ‘Forced To Cash In’ On £33M Midfielder As United And Chelsea Circle

Everton could be “forced to cash in” on Manchester United target Amadou Onana, according to talkSPORT.

The Toffees are in financial difficulty, with prospective new owners 777 Partners having to prop up the club with regular cash injections.

However, if their takeover is not finalised, it could leave the Merseyside club with a massive hole in their finances, which may lead to the club’s most high-profile players leaving Goodison Park.

Onana was signed from Lille last year for £33m but he has been linked with transfers to United and Chelsea over the past six months and talkSPORT claim that the Belgian international is still “on the radar” of both teams.

It is believed that the midfielder could be offloaded as early as January but it remains to be seen whether Erik ten Hag’s side will decide to make a formal approach.

Questions over the futures of Casemiro and Amrabat

The Red Devils are pretty well-stocked in the middle of the park at the moment but there has been speculation about Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat.

In terms of Casemiro, the Brazilian international’s performances have nosedived during his second year at Old Trafford and rumours have begun to circulate about a potential switch to Saudi Arabia in the New Year.

The situation is slightly different with Amrabat. United paid an £8.5m loan fee to bring him in from Fiorentina in the summer, with the option to buy for around £22m at the end of the season. However, the Moroccan international has not made a good impression and there is now talk that he could return to Italy.

United will focus on signing defenders in January

With Casemiro and Amrabat’s futures having not yet been resolved, it is unlikely that Onana will be a priority target when the transfer window reopens.

Currently, it is thought that ten Hag has prioritised the signing of a new centre-back, with Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo leading the list of names.
