Silvestre Names THREE French Players (Worth A Combined £118M) That United Should Buy

Ex-Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre has recommended three players that his former club should sign.

Erik ten Hag’s side have struggled for consistency since the beginning of the season and reinforcements could be brought in to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window. Silvestre told bettingexpert.com that Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana and Nice pair Jean-Clair Todibo & Khephren Thuram should be among the Red Devils’ transfer targets:

“Fofana is ticking a lot of boxes to play as a defensive midfielder for a Premier League team and Man United could definitely be his next move, for sure.”

“Thuram and Todibo definitely have the level to play for Man Utd. And I’m sure they’re on the radar and they will be scrutinised. They will probably be put forward because it will be an easy and sensible transition and will make sense for INEOS to get the best scouting reports on these two players specifically.”

“They’re quality players. Both French internationals. Todibo is having a very good season. Khephren Thuram, a little bit less this season compared to last but still a quality midfielder.”

Todibo is known to be a top target for United

The Red Devils are keen to recruit a new centre-back and Todibo is said to be one of four defenders that the club’s recruitment staff are looking at alongside Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, Benfica’s Antonio Silva and Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio.

Back in the summer, it was reported that Todibo may cost at least £40m, although that valuation may increase if Nice are reluctant to sell in January. It remains to be seen whether the fact that INEOS own the French club will help United in negotiations.

Fofana and Thuram have both been linked with other Premier League clubs

Midfield is not an area that United will prioritise so bids for both Fofana and Thuram are unlikely to be made. However, the pair have attracted interest from teams in England.

Fofana has been linked with Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham, with Monaco reportedly wanting €30m (£26m) for the player. Thuram has also been on Liverpool’s radar but Nice are said to be demanding around €60m (£52m) to sell the 22-year-old.
