United Told They Must Pay 10m More After Tabling Bid For Brazilian Flyer

Manchester United have tabled an opening offer of €30m (£27m) for Juventus’s Douglas Costa, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Red Devils are looking at potential alternatives to Jadon Sancho after they ran into difficulties with Borussia Dortmund over signing the 20-year-old.

Costa is currently seen as a good backup option, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to be a keen admirer of the pacey winger, and United have reportedly tested the waters to see if Juve are willing to sell the Brazilian.

However, the Bianconeri are expected to demand at least £10m more for the 29-year-old, with the Serie A side looking to get back what they paid Bayern Munich two years ago.

One major concern about Costa is his fitness record. He has had a succession of soft tissue injuries over the past year and it would be a risk to pay over the odds for a player who will also turn 30 next month.
