United Ready To Challenge Chelsea For World Cup Winning Defender

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain will fight it out with Chelsea for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane, according to reports in the Spanish media.

It was claimed in the German press at the weekend that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was keen on taking the France World Cup winner to Stamford Bridge, but it is believed that United are still very much in the race to snap up the defender.

Varane’s current contract has just twelve months left to run and, with the Frenchman struggling to come to agreement with Real over an extension to his current deal at the Bernabeu, he could very well be on the market this summer.

PSG are also expected to give United and Chelsea a run for their money, having reportedly already made an offer to the player, but it remains to be seen whether any of the three clubs will make a formal bid.
