Onana, Mainoo And Rashford To Start: Antony On The Bench: United’s Predicted XI To Face Newcastle

Manchester United’s draw against Galatasaray leaves them bottom of their Champions League group. It was another disappointing result for Erik ten Hag’s side who could have put themselves in a good position to qualify for the last 16 with a win.

As it is, they will head into the game at St James’ Park this weekend rather deflated. It won’t be easy against Newcastle either who have only dropped points once at home in the league so far this season.

Despite his costly errors against Galatasaray, Andre Onana is expected to keep his place in goal. Diogo Dalot could replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back with Luke Shaw starting on the opposite flank.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire may keep their places in the centre of defence, despite conceding three in Turkey. Lindelof could have arguably tracked the runner for Galatasaray’s third goal better but Erik ten Hag has said he doesn’t like pairing Raphael Varane with Maguire so the Swedish international is likely to remain in the starting lineup.

With Sofyan Amrabat still yet to convince in a United shirt, the Moroccan international may well be dropped in favour of Kobbie Mainoo, with Scott McTominay and captain Bruno Fernandes making up the rest of the midfield three.

Marcus Rashford was suspended for the Galatasaray game midweek but he is set to return to the team on Saturday evening. Antony is the favourite to make way. The Brazilian put in an improved performance at Rams Park but it might not be enough to keep him in the eleven.

Rasmus Hojlund is expected to lead the line, with the in-form Alejandro Garnacho lining up on the left wing.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI to take on Newcastle:

Onana, Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, Mainoo, Fernandes, McTominay, Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho
