United One Of Three Teams Tracking Unsettled Read Madrid Star But He Could Cost A World Record Fee

Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has told teammates that he is looking to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season, according to Marca.

Reports in France emerged earlier this week that the player was considering his future at the Spanish giants with a move in the summer a possibility.

However, it will likely take a world record bid for a defender for Real Madrid to let Varane leave. The 25-year-old has a contract until 2022 and has a €200m (£170m) release clause.

Another Spanish publication, OK Diario, believe Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are the favourites for the centre-back.

PSG, in particular, are said to be weighing up an offer in excess of €100m to bring Varane back to his homeland. Whether United would sanction such as a sizeable offer for a defender, it remains to be seen.

The Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City’s Harry Maguire, but if a World Cup winner and four-times Champions League winner is available, it would surely be a better move.
