United On Alert As Bundesliga Star’s Asking Price Is Reduced To £35m

RB Leipzig have reduced their asking price for Dayot Upamecano by €20m (£17.5m), according to reports in the German media. The 21-year-old has a release clause of €60m (£52.5m) but it is now believed the defender could be sold for just €40m (£35m).

Such a figure will no doubt be of interest to the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea who have all been linked with the centre-back in recent months.

Upamecano is closing in on the final twelve months of his contract with Leipzig and the Bundesliga club are seemingly very keen to offload the player to prevent him from leaving for nothing next year.

Whether United would consider making a bid for the France Under 21 international, even for the lower price, it is up for debate. Reports have suggested that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy with the centre-back options he has at his disposal.
