“Wow” – Paul Scholes Impressed By One United Star Despite Galatasaray Defeat

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has praised Rasmus Hojlund after he scored a brace against Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.

The Red Devils may have lost 3-2 but, speaking to TNT Sports (quotes via the Metro), Scholes said that the striker was one of the few positives to come out of the game:

“He took the two goals brilliantly. I absolutely loved the second goal, he gave the centre-half no chance, clean pair of heels and his finish – a composed finish.”

“We also had a goal that got disallowed. And I thought, ‘Wow there’s a bit of Van Nistelrooy in there’.”

Scholes is paying Hojlund a massive compliment

Considering that the summer signing has only made 7 appearances for United so far, the fact that Scholes is already comparing him to Ruud van Nistelrooy is quite something.

The pundit isn’t usually that forthcoming with his praise so his remarks are a good indication that Hojlund is doing something right.

The United star also received praise from others

Hojlund’s performance against Galatasaray was also commented on by former Chelsea and England manager Glenn Hoddle. Acting as co-commentator, he remarked on the striker’s hold-up play by saying:

“Absolutely brilliant, everything you want from a centre-forward; strength, changes the play.”

Hoddle went on to applaud Hojlund for the way he took his second goal, using his speed to run clear of the Galatasaray defence before dinking the ball past goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.

At the moment, the Dane is very much living up to the hype. Some questioned the decision to shell out £72m on a player who had 1 year of experience playing in a top 5 European league, but it does appear that the 20-year-old possesses all the attributes necessary to be a top striker.
