Paul Merson Predicts The Outcome As United Face Brentford

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson doesn’t believe Manchester United will get back to winning ways this afternoon.

The Red Devils have been in awful form and, writing in his column for Sportskeeda, Merson says he can only see them getting a draw against Brentford after losing in midweek:

“Galatasaray aren’t the greatest team in the world, but they wreaked absolute havoc at Old Trafford this week. Ten Hag has got big calls to make – they keep doing the same things and getting the same results. They’ve lost four of their last five games and are smashing every negative record at the moment.”

“I want to pick Man United here, but it’s so hard to back them at the moment. They’re hard to watch and defend terribly, and I think they could draw against Brentford.”

Merson has gone for a 1-1 draw which is not a surprising prediction, considering United’s results recently. Erik ten Hag’s side have already lost SIX times in all competitions this season, and performances seem to be getting worse, not better.

United will be facing a Brentford side with their own problems

One saving grace for the Red Devils is that their opponents this weekend are going through a dip in form themselves. They haven’t won in 90 minutes since beating Fulham away from home in mid-August.

The Bees are, however, still a good team but they have been struggling to keep clean sheets, and that is something that United will hope to take advantage of, especially with the in-form Rasmus Hojlund.

Getting the 3 points is vital for ten Hag

With it being the final game before the international break, getting a positive result this afternoon will ease the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

However, if United slip up again, it could be a long two weeks for the Dutchman between now and the match against Sheffield United.
