Teenager Hailed As “Generational Talent” Set Be ‘Offered’ Contract By Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo will be “offered” a new contract by the club at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old signed his first professional deal in 2022 but the Red Devils are keen to reward the player following his outstanding recent performances for the first team.

Mainoo has now started 10 games this campaign, with manager Erik ten Hag having put a lot of faith in the teenager’s abilities since handing him his debut for United.

His excellent solo goal which sealed a last-gasp win against Wolves on Thursday night is undoubtedly the highlight of his fledgling career so far.

However, considering his undoubted talent, much more is expected of Mainoo in the future and getting him to commit his long-term future to the club is now a top priority.

Mainoo has been hailed as a “generational talent” by one of his teammates

While some have tried to temper expectations in order to ease the pressure on the youngster, striker Rasmus Hojlund has been quick to tip the midfielder for greatness. Speaking in the aftermath of the dramatic victory over Wolves, the Danish striker said:

“We have a generational talent in Kobbie Mainoo. You can see his composure, he is so relaxed on the ball. So much quality on the ball. Now he’s also starting to show that he has the scoring parts of his game as well. He’s a complete player.”

“It’s not about taking the responsibility, he’s so relaxed, so calm, he knows his quality and he knows when he goes out there he’s going to perform. Everybody knows that from the team and you guys can see it as well now. He’s a top player.”

A battle is brewing over the international future of the United starlet

Mainoo was born in Stockport and he has played for England at Under 17, Under 18 and Under 19 level. However, he does have Ghanaian heritage.

Speaking about the player, a member of the executive council of the Ghana FA, Randy Abbey, has said the country are “definitely” looking to persuade Mainoo to switch allegiances.
