“Fearing What’s Going To Happen” – United Makes Pessimistic Prediction Ahead Of Chelsea And Liverpool Games

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville says he is expecting a complete “mess” when his former club Manchester United take on Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Red Devils host the Blues at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening before they travel to Anfield for the next away fixture in two weeks’ time, and Neville says he is “already fearing” the worst:

“I feel tired of watching them, and that’s a sad position to be in. I love that club and I love the excitement of football but I’m already fearing what’s going to happen at Anfield in two weeks, just purely because I think it could be a mess.”

“I’m already fearing what’s going to happen Wednesday night against Chelsea because it could be a mess. There’s no confidence, they’ve lost our confidence, the whole club has lost our confidence as fans.”

Chelsea are no Manchester City

United did suffer a defeat in their last high-profile fixture at home last month in the Manchester derby but nobody would say that Chelsea are in the same class as the Premier League champions.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side did win against Brighton at the weekend, despite being down to ten men for most of the second half, so their confidence will have been boosted by that result, but they have been extremely inconsistent since the opening day of the season. The game could arguably go either way.

A trip to Anfield will fill some United fans with trepidation

After being hammered 7-0 on Merseyside last season, it is not an ideal time for Erik ten Hag’s side to face Liverpool away from home, considering their poor recent performances.

However, if they do manage to record positive results against Chelsea, Bournemouth and Bayern Munich before facing the Reds, it would give them some hope heading into that fiercely contested match on December 17th.
